Haze – The Mother of All Sativas
Haze is not just a cannabis strain – it is a legend. Hardly any other genetics have shaped the cannabis world as sustainably as the original Haze line. As the epitome of Sativa dominance Haze stands for energetic, cerebral highs, complex aromas, and a breeding history that dates back to the 1960s. When you buy Haze Seeds, you bring a piece of cannabis history into your garden.
At House of Seeds you will find Haze cannabis seeds from premium seedbanks like Dutch Passion, Holy Hemp, and Super Sativa Seed Club – from classic Haze variants to modern hybrids.
The story of Haze: From Santa Cruz to the world
The Haze story begins in sunny California in the late 1960s and 1970s. Two brothers, now only known as the Haze Brothers started crossing various Sativa landraces from around the world in the Santa Cruz area. Their goal: to create the ultimate Sativa.
The genetic mix reads like a world tour through cannabis strongholds: landraces from Mexico, Colombia, Thailand and partly South India or Jamaica flowed into the original Haze genetics. The result was a plant with an effect and complexity that had never been seen before.
The decisive turning point came in the 1980s when the Dutch breeder Nevil Schoenmakers brought the Haze genetics to Amsterdam. There he founded the first commercial seed bank and began crossing Haze with other genetics. Legendary strains like Neville’s Haze and later Amnesia Haze were created and made Haze a global phenomenon that sustainably changed cannabis breeding worldwide.
Genetics: Four continents in one plant
What makes Haze so special is the extraordinary genetic diversity. While most modern strains consist of two parent lines, Haze unites landraces from four different regions of the world:
Colombian genetics bring the euphoric, heady effect and high THC content. Mexican landraces provide the structure and spicy-earthy terpene profile. Thai genetics are responsible for the extreme potency, long flowering time, and psychedelic quality of the high. South Indian or Jamaican influences round off the profile and provide additional aromatic complexity.
This four-way cross makes Haze one of the genetically most diverse strains ever – and explains why it serves as the basis for countless modern hybrids.
Effect: The legendary Haze high
The Haze high is the reason this strain has had a loyal following for decades. It is described as uplifting, creative, and euphoric – a cerebral experience that keeps the mind clear and active.
Unlike Indica-heavy strains that lead to relaxation and couch-lock, Haze is a daytime strain par excellence. Consumers use it to stay active, social, and creative. Whether working, at social events, or on creative projects – Haze delivers energy instead of fatigue.
Modern Haze varieties are very potent and often have THC levels between 18 and 25 percent . The high often starts with a slight delay but then builds into an intense, long-lasting experience appreciated by experienced Sativa lovers.
Aroma & Flavor: Spicy, citrusy, and distinctive
The aroma profile of Haze is as distinctive as its effect. Typical is a spicy, citrusy aroma with earthy or incense-like undertones – a scent connoisseurs recognize immediately.
Depending on the cross, the nuances vary: Super Lemon Haze emphasizes the citrus notes, Amnesia Haze adds more earthy spice, and Skywalker Haze adds a sweet component. All Haze varieties share this characteristic, slightly sharp scent that makes them instantly distinguishable from other strains.
Cultivation: Demanding but rewarding
Haze is honest – it is not a beginner strain in the grow room. Original Haze genetics grow very tall, have narrow leaves, and have a flowering time of 10 to over 12 weeks . This is significantly longer than most Indica hybrids and requires patience and experience.
The good news: modern crosses and selections have made cultivation much easier. Today’s Haze hybrids offer shorter flowering times, controllable heights, and more stable genetics – without sacrificing the legendary Haze high. Autoflowering varieties even make Haze accessible for beginners.
